Jim built this replica model of the plane on which he flew throughout his tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps. He flew on the aiplanes based at MCAS Yuma. The military designation of C-117 was given to these Douglas DC-3 airplanes. These airplanes were removed from service 5 years after the end of Jim's enlistment. Jim found the model kit online and when it arrived he discovered it shipped from Russia.
