Kathie worked at Randhurst Mall, Mt. Prospect, Illinois, from 1974-1977, while Jim was going to college. During an annual book sale held in the mall, Jim & Kathie found this 25 book set of encyclopedias and purchased it for $2.50. Unpacking them at home, they discovered volume 24 was missing. Two days later while strolling through the last day of the book sale, they found volume 24 by itself, completing their set. There is no copyright, but the preface is dated 1912. Encyclopedias from that era were made small (6.25" by 4.25") to fit in the library, which was a cabinet in the home which held all the family's reference materials. Today the library is known as a rolltop desk.
